Case study

Orange LU
Telecom antennas

Orange LU, a Luxembourgish and international telecom operator, holds the management of 300+ antenna towers across the country.

This requires them to strictly adhere to Luxembourg's regulations that demand frequent examinations of their infrastructure and associated components. Any changes must also be formally declared, ensuring complete compliance with current laws.

By managing such a large number of installations, Orange is committed to providing reliable telecom services.

LiDAR & GPS/GNSS
arrow-tab-close

LiDAR scans provides our clients with centrimetrical precision 3D point clouds. These points clouds measurements are cleaned, denoised and each relevant volumes are classified, providing a complete As Built model that can be derieved in multiple outputs : 2D/3D CADs plans, maps, orthophotography.

For Orange, existing CAD plans are updated with relevant antennas and on ground telco equipment measurements and inventory. Structural devaitions are also annotated on plans (pylons tilts...)

02
Still photography

Still photography is an important tool for capturing visual evidence on whether equipment or machinery is in good shape and functioning optimally. This helps identify any faults or irregularities, track changes over time, and diagnose technical issues before they can cause costly or dangerous disruptions.

This helps improve safety while reducing downtime and maintenance costs.

Captured images also provide a digital record of the system status, which can be used as evidence in legal disputes or to support insurance claims.

The ability to decisively document the condition of a piece of equipment with still photography makes it a valuable asset for any business.

03
Panoramic photography

360 panoramic photography is a great way to take in entire landscapes or large interior scenes using an expansive view.

It is especially important for certain industries like telecommunications, where antenna orientation needs to be precise on the horizon. In this case, panoramic photos are taken to check the horizon: obstacles distances can be further measured with laser telemetry to enhance the antenna's coverage analysis.

This ensures that communication systems are working at optimal levels and can maintain consistent connections.

Taking pictures from multiple angles allows technicians to check the field of view on all sides and zoom in carefully to identify any discrepancies that need to be corrected or avoided.

Improved control processes of asset and structure

Have a time history of antenna data is essential for asset status, maintenance and future control.

Knowing the positions and orientations of antennas based on as-built measurements helps to identify later if the asset has been moved or incorrectly installed.

Keeping accurate information such as dimensions, diameters and photographic references provides ease of maintenance as it can be tracked easily in one reference point instead of searching through papers and records or even remembering details that have come up over time.

This data can also provide better future control security by pinpointing any irregularities between what is expected and what has been installed in the field.

for Orange Luxembourg

40
%
Operational time in average

Investing in an update via measure as-built can be a much more cost effective and time efficient option than hiring an architect, resulting in an average return of financial gain of 40%.

This speed and savings are due to the fact that it is easier to update plans this way, as it involves taking existing measurements from the structure and using that data to make any necessary updates.

This significantly reduces the amount of time needed for updates, leading to substantial cost savings.

%
Increased quality

Orange's qualitative ROI gain with improved plans updated system is astounding. It helps the personnel to have more accurate readings through physical verification of network asdets - antennas, pylons and more resulting in an outstanding 50% increase in quality.

Orange can now keep an up-to-date As Built inventory of each site effortlessly and convert it into 3D centimetric readings.
